AdWords is not for everyone

Adwords is not for everyone, but it is an amazing way to get very targeted people to your website. These are going to be the kind of individuals who become customers because they’re actively looking for the product or service you provide, let me explain.

Firstly, let’s just make sure everyone reading this understands what we mean when we say Google Adwords. Whenever you search for something using Google, the results are returned with some options below and above the main search results, clearly marked with a green ‘ad’. You get the opportunity to bid to take that position in the search results. It’s called Pay Per Click. You don’t pay until someone clicks the advert, but you have to bid the highest to get your advert placed there in the first place.

This is almost like short cutting SEO; you get instant access to people who are looking for your products and services, they are searching them right now. And if you are targeted, they can be in your city too.

It’s not as cost effective as SEO. With Search Engine Optimization, once you are ranking in Google, you don’t have to pay any advertising, it’s free. But SEO can take time. Anywhere from 2 months to 12 months depending on how much competition there is. Adwords starts immediately.

What I love about Adwords is that it’s all measurable.

I know how much it costs me for one person to click my advert and come to my site. I can also measure how many people need to visit my website before 1 of them decided to buy / ring / make contact with me. And I know how many sales I have. Finally, I know what the cost of my product or service is.

This means I can spend a little of Google Adwords, check all the numbers, make sure I am making a profit, then I can scale up my Adwords spend. There are not many unknowns in the process. Let me give you an example.

I set a limit on my Adwords at £1 per click. To start with I spend just £100 so I received 100 people who were interested in my service and clicked to visit my website.

Now, because they were already interested, and I have a good internet site, 10  of those 100 decided to contact me.  From the 10, 4 bought my service. For the purpose of this example, I am a hypnotherapist, so my service costs £199. In this case, it means that I had spent £100 and had a return of £796 (£696 after ad spend).

I might decide to spend £200 next time, just to check the numbers hold up, but once I see that I roughly have 10% of visitors convert into potential customers, and of those hot leads, 40% convert, I can spend £1000 knowing I am likely to make £6000+ back.

Google Adwords doesn’t work for everyone, but if it works for your industry and you’re not using it, it’s a wasted opportunity. The great thing is, it doesn’t have to be instead of SEO it can be as well as SEO.

Why Google should be your best friend

When it comes to digital marketing, for most small business, you only need to think about one thing. Leads. At the end of the day, it’s the result of all this ‘hocus pocus’ that matters, and in this case, the result is how many people pick up the phone, walk through the door and email.

Your online presence is there to do two things. 1 – Convert traffic into new customers and 2 – build a relationship with existing customers. In this article, we’re going to focus on the first, converting traffic.

Targeting

You’re a business owner. You’re not interested in traffic to your website, or Facebook page like a blogger is. You’re interested in target traffic. People in the right location who are interested in what you have to offer.

I’d rather have 100 visitors come to my website who are interested in my service than I am 1000 who turned up there by accident, you should have that same mentality, and it should be the focus on your marketing strategy.

Google helps…

The reason why Google has become so powerful is their search engine. The way they help people find what they’re looking for online. They have an algorithm that when someone enters some keywords into the search box, the algorithm determines which sites would be of more interest to the searchers. The quality of those results is why we all use Google.

If you can make Google believe they should be finding your website, in some cases it can make your business a guaranteed success. If you are in the top position on the search results, then 75% of people doing that search are likely to visit your website.

That means, by doing nothing more than getting your site found, people will be visiting you every day. It’s the same as having a store in the main street in town, but better, because only people interested in your product or service, right now, are going to visit you.

They are coming to you with their wallets out, credit card in their hand, ready to purchase. All your website needs to do is give them the impression that you are a trusted and respectable company to buy from.

I recently help a driving instructor get to position one on Google’s search. He lived in a small town of only 50,000 people. Getting to the top spot on Google meant that 250 visitors a month visited his website looking for his services as a driving instructor. He’s a one-man outfit. He had more business than he could possibly handle, he ended up teaming up with two other driving instructors just to cover the amount of interest they had.

The crazy thing, only 15% of the 250 contacted him, but that’s 35  people a month wanting him as their instructor.

He did no other marketing then getting his website on the front page of Google and month after month people called and emailed him. Even in a small town, even with a small audience of 250 people a month.

That’s how useful Google can be if you get it working for you. SEO or Search Engine Optimization is the process of getting Google to love your website and show it to people interested in your services and products.

If you need that steady stream of visitors then you need SEO, you need Google to find you. We can help you with that. For a chat about how many people are looking for you right now, and how we can help them find you, get in touch.

Does Switching to HTTP 2 Affect my Website’s seo?

Many of you would have switched to HTTP 2 which is the newer version of HTTP protocol. This is largely based on the Google’s SPDY protocol.

Since the launch of this new protocol we have received many queries from different people asking whether or not switching to HTTP2 will affect their websites’ seo.

Not to mention that this protocol can dramatically improve your website and decrease the loading time, making it faster.

John Mueller, who is a Google Webmaster Trends Analysts says that Googlebot will support HTTP2. Also, it has been seen that a number of seo companies have added a support for HTTP2.

So far, it has been seen that websites that have switched to HTTP2 have a better user experience. It counts a lot in website’s seo. Possibly it will improve your website’s search rankings.

7 On-Page seo Improvements You Must Make in 24 Hours

Many of you may overthink on-page seo. You should target the right keyword density percentage in your content to ensure that all of the possibilities for different search terms in the content are perfectly optimized for Search Engines. However, taking On-Page seo too far can also be a disaster for your website.

Owning a small business or even if you are an seo manager and interested in generating high quality and instant result for your clients, you must know the right strategies and changes to make. Though not a rocket science but you still need to be aware of minor on-page factors.

In this guide, we have listed out 7 On-Page seo Improvements that we think every business owner or an seo should make within the next 24 hours. These are quick yet simple fixes that can dramatically improve your rankings.

They will also help to make instant progress in Google’s organic search without doing much on the seo.

Here we go!

1: Fixing Title Tags

Many business owners miss out the title tags. We have analyzed many client websites and found that their title tags were not optimized for seo. So, if your target keyword is appearing close to the end of the page’s title tag, you can win the seo simply by optimizing all of the page’s titles on that single keyword.

What we recommend here is to use the title tags like “Keyword – Brand Name.” Suppose you have a local business called “Coffee Craze” with a page that is targeting a keyword, let say, “fair trade coffee in London.” So, an optimized title here would be “Fair Trade Coffee in London – Coffee Craze.”

When you place your main keyword at the start of the title, it immediately tells Google which keyword to focus on your page. This dramatically increases the page relevance and improves your organic search rankings. Moreover, it also shows your website users exactly what the page is about.

When the brand name is added at the end of the target keyword, it will establish your brand in the eyes of Search Engines, no matter if the user clicks on it or not. In simple, if someone searches that keyword, he still sees your brand name, “Coffee Craze.” This improves your brand recognition.

An important thing to consider here is to keep your title tags under 60 characters. This gives you an enormous on-page seo benefit as compared to the competitors.

2: Using H2 and H3 Tags

Obviously, there would be long tail keywords in the content. They must be optimized with H2 and H3 tags. Don’t use H1 tag as it is already used in the main heading. Using H2 and H3 tags also breaks up the content and improves user’s readability.

We highly recommend considering H1 for the title of the post only. Then, use H2 tag for the core chapters of the content and H3 for the subheadings. When you use different headings and subheadings within your content, it will improve user experience and reduces the bounce rate as well.

It has been seen that headings play a major role in website’s seo, and business owners can potentially grab high organic rankings by optimizing the keywords with headings. For your principal or target keyword, we recommend H1 tag. Try to keep it close to the beginning of the post for maximum visibility.

For H2 tags, use them in your secondary keywords and for the H3, use them for your long tail keywords.

Doing this shows Google that you have given a particular level of visibility to those keywords on your page.

So, if “Fair trade coffee in London” is the page, then you must use H1 tag on “Fair Trade Coffee in London.” Here the secondary keyword would be “Fair Trade Coffee Brands.” This must be enclosed in H2 tag. Similarly, if you have used any long tail keyword as well, use H3 tag for it. This will dramatically improve your page’s focus keyword.

3: Making individual Page Solve a Specific Problem

Another important method to improve your on-page seo that many website owners neglect is to make individual pages solve a particular problem of the audience. To make it easier, ask yourself: “What’s the problem this content will solve for your readers?”

By doing this, it will improve your page’s focus on a specific topic. When the focus topic is narrowed down, it will be better rank in its category on search engines. This is also beneficial regarding Google ranking because Google will deliver the best results for each query. So, if your page is perfectly optimized and focused on solving a problem, it will rank on the top of other websites.

Just in case you were struggling with naturally inserting the keywords, this will solve your problem. How? You will be optimizing the content to solve a problem, so it naturally becomes more relevant.

4: Expanding Content for More detail and Value

A study tells that the top-ranking pages on highly competitive keywords have 2000 words of content. This doesn’t necessarily mean that long content is better than short content. However; Google usually values the longer and valuable content over the short one.

So, even if your page is ranking for a specific search term which is quite competitive as well but isn’t cracking up to the top 3 position, you should expand the content, add more detail and value to it. Also, build the page to focus on the main keyword. Doing this, you will turn that particular page in a right authority.

I should also mention here that Google’s is always focusing on the content which it thinks is the most relevant to the user’s search query. Having a detailed post is a great on-page factor and can give the best results. Not only that, but it also attracts more links and recommendations than little content.

So, if you aren’t making it to the first position, analyze the top results and their content. Then make your page more valuable for your audience. This will give instant ranking improvement.

5: Practicing the art of Relevant Internal Linking

Many websites have great interlinking, but if it isn’t relevant, it doesn’t add up to the website’s seo. Off-page link building is not all that counts in ranking. Internal linking plays a vital role as it tells Google which page is more valuable and which isn’t. In simple, you are optimizing Google’s attention on a particular page.

When there is a good interlinking from one page to another, like from a particular blog post to a relevant product or your service page on your website, it immediately tells Google the importance of that linked page.

This rule also applies to anchor text when it comes to off-page seo. For example, “XYZ” is the anchor text, it will improve your search ranking for this “XYZ” keyword.

You might be surprised to hear that internal linking may not bring you to the top of search results for a highly competitive keyword. However, it is a very crucial aspect of on-page seo, and it must not be ignored. With a good interlinking strategy, it will improve the overall power of your website that counts a lot in technical on-page factors.

We have also interlinked various pages and some outbound links as well. Make sure that when you do inter-linking, it is linking to the relevant page only. This way it will increase your website’s seo.

6: Structuring URLs for seo

Perhaps, one of the silliest mistakes we see on more than 75% of the sites. The structure of website’s URLs can dramatically improve visibility in search engines. In simple, try to keep your URL’s shorter for better ranking in Google’s search results. When a page has a short URL, it signals that is it highly relevant to the user’s search query.

Let us take the example of London Coffee Shop. Ask for yourself, which URL looks more appropriate and better for the page Fair Trade Coffee in London:

  1. http://examplewebsite.com/coffee/types/fair-trade-coffee/london.html
  2. http://examplewebsite.com/fair-trade-coffee-in-london.

The CTR on the second URL will be high as compared to the first one because it is more relevant to the search query.

The first URL is also relevant, but it looks very detailed and a bit confusing as well. When the URL is short, Google awards that page with better ranking. Some reasons for this include:

  • It is easier for your user to identify the topic of the page.
  • It also includes the target keyword.
  • It clearly shows that the page is about fair trade coffee in London.

Other than on-page, having a short URL also gives you off-page benefit. When your page’s URL contains the target keyword, it will rank better in search results.

In simple, try to keep the URL’s short as possible and do include the target keyword. With an exact match anchor text, you will already stand out from your competitors because of relevancy.

7: Optimizing Code and Images to Load Faster

We often see that a lot of websites have several multiple lines of codes and large image files that cause their page to load very slow. Back in 2010, Google officially announce site speed as a ranking factor.

Although your website’s speed is only a small part of several thousand ranking factors it can surely determine the page rank. Sometimes, your seo is perfect, but a poor loading speed can make Google push you down in the search results.

Having a fast website can guarantee page one ranking for the target keyword as compared to a slow and sluggish site. It is not only good for Search Engines but also for users who land on your website. It has been seen that websites that load fast also achieve a better conversion rate as compared to the slow ones. This shows that your audience is likely to convert into your potential customers if your website’s speed is fast.

Luckily, increasing website’s speed is enough easy and there are several different ways to do it. The easiest one is through a CDN or choosing a server which is closest to your target location. Another way is to optimize the website code and images for a small file size.

For optimizing your images so they better support the file size and quality, you can use Google’s guide to image optimization. Alternatively, try some great tools like GTmetrix. It gives an instant report on the code that might be slowing down the website’s speed. Not only that, but it also gives you a solution on how to fix it.

As an seo, optimizing the images is the most tedious process, however; as important as it is boring. It not only improves the user experience but also increases conversion rate. It has been seen that websites that load faster also gain more returning visitors.

How to Fix Broken Links

Fixing broken links on your site is very important. It can badly hurt your on-page seo and Google rankings. These aren’t the bad links that might be pointing towards your website. In fact, these are the links that lead to URLs, returning 404, 410 and other errors that lead to poor user-experience.

So, it is crucial for you to analyze your site for any such links and fix them ASAP. This can potentially hinder your visitors to access the information they might be searching on your website. It can result in traffic drop-down and poor revenue.

Luckily, it is quite easy to find such links and fix them. You don’t need to manually go through every link, page by page. Instead, you have to use two application: Integrity for MAC and Xenu Link Sleuth for PC.

In this guide, we’ll go through the interface of both the applications and see how easily we can do the whole process.

Fixing Broken Links using Xenu Link Sleuth

Xenu is a free application for Windows. It allows you to scan the entire website for all broken links. It takes a few minutes and returns a full report of broken links which is 100% accurate.

Many seos have been using this great tool since long for digging broken links and reaching them via email to perform broken link building.

You can download it absolutely free HERE. Once installed on computer, enter your website’s URL into the New Project Form. Also select a level of depth your processor is comfortable with and finally run the scanner.

If you own a website hosted on WordPress and you are logged in, make sure that you inform Xenu to ignore cookies. Else, it may end up finding your WordPress login page and also scan the entire administrative dashboard. This also scans up delete links.

In the advanced section, just make sure that the “Allow Cookies” is not checked.

Once the scan process has started, Xenu will go through your website and scan every link it finds. This also includes all the external links pointing to other domains. After a few minutes, it will give you a detailed report on every link on the website along with their status, whether they are alive or dead.

Always double check the links to make sure they are not broken. Xenu sometimes marks URLs that time out as broken due to some connectivity issues. It won’t take long.

Using Integrity to Find Broken Links

For MAC users, use Integrity, which is also a free application. It lets you scan the website for all broken links and is quite similar to XENU. However, a few MAC users say it isn’t that reliable, especially for larger websites that have thousands of pages and links.

Likewise XENU, Integrity is also simple to operate. Download it from their official website for free. Once installed, enter website’s root domain in the URL bar, set the timeout (go for 30 seconds) and then choose the right amount of threads.

However, if your Internet connection is not fast it will take a lot of processing power but you can increase the thread count for a quick scan.

One drawback here is that when you use extra threads, it results in more timeouts, especially when the connection is slow or the website’s host is on a lazy server.

Once you have the report on broken links, the easiest way is to check real broken links is to open them “By Status” tab. This will instantly sort them out automatically and give you a report on those links returning 404 errors.

Integrity usually displays all the occurrences of your broken links. This makes it easier for you to find the exact page and update those bad links.

Another way is to use a 301 redirect to fix all those bad links. This saves a lot of time as compared to doing it manually.

Just in case your website has broken links and you can’t figure out on how to get rid of them, contact us today and allows us to do this hectic task for you.

4 Links You Should Build to Improve Your Search Engine Rankings (Here’s How to Get Them)

When it comes to seo, the most time consuming and ‘difficult most’ task is to build links. Not to mention that is as important to build them as it is difficult. No matter how organized and beautiful your website appears, at the end of the day, it’s all about the links.

Not only this, many surveys published on some big companies like Searchmetrics and Moz including other giants as well, tell that marketers view the links as one of the core ranking factor.

Once you have your website filled with great information, engaging content, on-page optimization and interlinking etc. the next step is to create backlinks. However, it seems like a hectic task to get powerful and authoritative links to your website to rank your target keyword.

Right?

So, for this reason, we have crafted a very useful guide for you build links easily in 2016. You will learn how to get editorial links and branded one as well. They will not only improve the authority and metrics of your website but also improve organic search visibility and ensure long term stable rankings.

Whether you are a complete noob or in the learning phase, this guide is perfect for you to start building high quality links in no time.

1: Mentions in newspapers and mainstream media websites

Many of the digital marketers recommend to get high quality links from top newspapers like Wall Street Journal or the ‘The Times’. They are like getting golden inbound links to your website. Google considers these websites of great quality and values their links as well. The reason Google values them:

  • Nearly all of the top newspapers have a history that dates back to 1990s and have thousands of quality links. This increases their Page Rank and increase their authority.
  • These sites have very strict editorial process. This means, only high quality and value driven articles are eligible to be published.
  • Readers usually love their content and responds to it. This makes such links of high value, probably beyond an seo perspective. Also, it adds a source of direct traffic to your website.

So, how to get newspaper links?

Many of the seo businesses have made their ways to newspapers via some strategies. The idea here is to attract the attention of the media and write viral content. Getting your content published can be very simple if your article is of high quality. You simply need to contact the newspaper editorial team to scan your content. They’ll read through and see whether or not it is eligible for publishing.

Make sure your content provides value to the readers! If you succeed, the value of such links can be as much as a thousand dollars.

2: Editorial Links

This is what we call the silver links! Grabbing links from authority blogs, especially the ones popular in your niche, can help you get ranking and authority within a very less time. It also drives motivated traffic to your blog.

Just as you get high DA, PA and Page Rank from a newspaper site, editorial links from niche relevant blogs also increase your website’s authority.

It is far easier as well to get links from such websites. The reason here being is that these blogs are usually operated by a single person or sometime a small team of people. You get attention a lot easier. Plus, they don’t have any strict rules, though the quality factor remains there.

Here are some strategies you can apply to ensure an editorial link in your very first endeavor:

  • Try the old-school method and reach the owners via email outreach or through relationship development. Try to focus only those who are relevant to your niche.
  • Always write great content and get in touch with them on Twitter, Linkedin and other social networks. This also encourages them to link back to you.
  • Provide quality, quality and only quality in your content.

In most of the cases, you are likely to get your content published on their website with an editorial link.

3: Recommendations

Getting recommended by other businesses is another way to get quality links on the go. Go through your list and see whether or not you have existing business relationships. This is perhaps one of the easiest way to get inbound links.

You simply need to email your business partner and that’s all required to get an inbound link to your business. Suppose if you are a supplier or a partner, simply ask them if they can link to your websites via the Resources or Partner’s section.

Repeat this process many times in a month, and you are likely to get many inbound links that will increase your website’s authority.

You can also provide a testimonial to your suppliers and write some nice words about their service. Most likely, they will publish your testimonials on their website along with your business link.

4: Bylined Link on Relevant and High Value Publications

You might be running a business and have trade publications. To be precise, nearly all of the industries have a trade publications that is specifically aimed at professionals and entrepreneurs, including digital marketing and to manufacturing.

So, if you have a taste for writing, you can potentially grab some high quality and powerful links simply by contributing to such publications as an expert.

A quick example we see in digital marketing industry is in websites like Search Engine Land and Search Engine Journal. They encourage the experts to reach out and contribute in their publications. They get publications with absolutely free content while the contributor grabs the free publicity.

Being a professional seo company, we think such links as triple-win for your online business. However, most of the publications require your own name and brand name as a choice of anchor text.

Kosovo’s Search Engine Gjirafa For Albanian Speakers Scores $2M

The Kosovo’s official search engine known as the “Gjirafa” for the Albanian speakers actually scored $2M. This is where Google failed. They have also addressed the sheer need of search engine for 12 million Albanian speakers. This is where the Internet Giant Google has completely failed.

Gjirafa is based in Kosovo. It is the former Serbian province and it was used to be the heart of Balkan Wars. It has taken the Internet big time and is typically focusing the Albanians. Not to mention that is linguistically unique, especially in a language subfamily all on its own in the larger Indo-European branch.

3 Unique & Effective Ways to Boost Organic CTR

Having built on-page content, optimizing the page elements for target keywords and building those quality backlinks can take you to the top of search rankings for the desired keywords. You are getting loads of traffic on your website, calls and emails with some great business deals being closed. You are happy that your business is prospering day in and day out, and you are happy with you’re the hard work and time invested.

Because we are seo experts, our work starts from where the site gets ranked on number one. We think about increasing the Organic CTR then you already have.

You can ask any seo and they’ll likely to recommend you to expand the target keyword list to generate more traffic.

However, this may not be the only way to further grow seo results. As professionals, we focus on developing a strategy to get more traffic from the existing organic search rankings.

Sounds interesting…?

So, how you can increase your site’s Organic CTR? The CTR or Click Through Rate is actually the percentage of the user clicks being generated on your website in the Google’s search results. It is usually represented in percentage like 20%, 10%, 17%, etc.

While the top ranked sites have usually the highest CTR for a specific keyword but it may not always be the same if proper techniques are used. Having a high CTR means high user relevancy to the user’s search query. This shows that your website is well-optimized!

A Data taken from Advanced Web Rankings tells us that the site on the top of the Google’s search results for a specific keyword query gets 31.24% of the clicks. Similarly, the second results receive 14.04%, the third 9.85 and the 4th to 10th results on average 3.73 percentage. Also, it tells that the entire third page or the organic listings get only 1.6% of the clicks.

So, if your website is on the first spot, you will get twice as traffic as compared to your competitors for the same keyword on third of fourth spot in the search results.

In this guide, we will try to explain 3 Unique & Effective ways to Boost Organic CTR. This is done by small tweaks in the title, meta description and page URL.

This means, even if you rank at spot three in the search results, you are likely to get more CTR than that of your competitor sitting on first place in Google.

1: Optimizing the Title

The first thing we’ll do is edit the page title because it is the first and prominent thing that appears whenever some searches for your business on Google. It is quite bold and big text, added on the top of website’s search engine listing.

Assuming that most of you are using WordPress, you can easily modify the page title with seo Ultimate Plugin.

However, those with a static HTML and CSS page style website, simply use the <title> tag for configuring the site’s title.

But how to properly edit the title? Obviously, it must be done with care, as it will be the first part to be noticed about your website.

  • Tell the users about the website.
  • Give them a solid reason to click.
  • Always include the target keyword. This is also a part of on-page seo.

As seo professionals, we will recommend to keep the target keyword close to the beginning of the page’s title. This gives a brisk and easier overview to the user about what he is likely to get in the new window. This dramatically improves CTR.

2: Optimize Meta Description

The next important thing is to edit the meta description and ensure that it is well optimized. It is usually the snippet of the text search engine displays below the page’s title and URL in the listings.

Meta description is commonly misunderstood in terms of seo. Google says that it doesn’t plays any important role in page ranking. However, it does plays a crucial role in determining the organic CTR of that particular page.

Some websites don’t use meta description. Google usually takes a snippet form the text and displays it under the site’s title and URL.

With a properly optimized Meta Description that has:

  • A clear description of what users will get on your page.
  • The benefit of clicking your website.
  • A call to action like “Check this guide”, “HERE”, etc.

3: Using Short and Relevant page URL

If you don’t edit the permalink or URL of the page, usually the page’s title is assigned as the URL. However, keeping your URL short and relevant to the page adds a lot in increasing your site’s CTR quickly.

For example, if the page title is “10 Proven ways to Lose Fat in less than 2 months”, a sensible and well-optimized URL would be, “site.com/ways-to-lose-fat”.

Just in case you think your website isn’t getting the CTR it deserves, you can hire our seo services to boost it.

Wikipedia Might Develop an Open Source Search Engine Soon

Wikipedia is considering to develop an Open Source Search Engine for its users and it may change the whole game. Their vision is quite democratisation on this new open search engine can provide the best and relevant information to its users absolutely free from various commercial interests. This might be a better search engine, however; not everyone is happy about it.

Wikimedia also has a team of search engineers that have started this project and also initially tasked with creating better links. The main purpose is to make this new idea a truly searchable open knowledge hub for everyone.

They also said that they will also add multiple data sources, the first one OpenStreetMaps, for improving the search beyond just text. This will include contextual items as well that would be pretty difficult to find before.

Wikipedia also said that they are exploring whether or not this new search engine can be pre-loaded on new handsets to reach maximum audience. This can give them a new income stream.

Not to mention that the founder of Wikipedia Jimmy Wales had his fingers burnt in past creating a for-profit search engine to try to rival Google.
